Rob and Jen's Aerocoupe Lt-1 and t-5 swap
Permalink Closed

This is what started with 87 aerocoupe that i had for 12years. I put a  Hotchkis TVS system. With kyb shocks and running 245/45/17 ft and 275/40/17 rear.  12"brakes up front and s10 wheel cylinder in the rear.

My cousin came Mike drove from upstate NY to help me out.  Made some roller to help move the car around .  We removed the computer. Pulled  out the yucky 305 and 200r-4 to make room for 355  backed by  t-5 Pulled to motor out of the Trans Am (355 and t-5)

The 355 and t-5 need to clean up. Time to clean up the engine bay.  Filling in all the holes in the firewall and prepping it for paint. Making the the new mount for a third pedal.  The f-body pedals were 1" too short.  With a little cutting and a little welding now it is is the right length and angle.  Just a set fit before I weld it all up.

Well the f-body mount and pedal are finally  finished.   The clutch pedal hit the fuse box by about an 1/4" and I made the them about an 1 1/4 longer on the brake and clutch. This is my new mount that I made from an f-body.
This is the the mount I made .  I cut the mounting bratchet off the f-body.  Then I monted the g-body pedal mount to my bench.  Run a rod through the f-body and g-body so they sit the same way.  Place a piece of light angle and mark it cut and weld it.  Making the f-body pedal sit right was real fun. Here are some pics  brake pedal added 1 1/4 and cut a relief to change the angle  After hours and hours of tacking and test fitting the clutch pedal is now welded. All cleaned up and ready for paint   here is the brake pedal all welded up Just have to paint them now.smile

Save that pedal as a template and start mass producing them.

The money you make will pay for your cars upgrades

I  was thinking about  making a few sets.  I just need more pedals and mounts and a piece of the firewall to check them.  I also corrected angle for the clutch link. clap.gif

The pedal u need to make is one that uses the stock G-body firewall mount.

This way it is a direct bolt in.

So far there are 2 different types that I seen and both sell for close to 200 bucks.

I am sure you can sell them for cheaper and still make a decent profit.

Looks cool I like the idea of painting the runners a different color.

I did that on one of my older Malibu's with a TPI setup.

I think it would look better if the heads were purple too... so it would look like the runners are flowing into the heads as it they were all one peice

here is some pic's of the firewall  It was a pain to paint. We used P.O.R-15 and it's very thick and can't be wet sanded.
