Pull off the number 1 spark plug wire at the plug.

Put a screwdriver in it and hold it to the valve cover.

If it sparks you have spark, and the distibutor should be good.

If it don't you may have a bad coil, module ,cap or rotor.

If you have spark then go and take off the air cleaner,

Work the carb linkage by hand until you do not not hear the gas squirting any more.

Then crank the car over a couple of times.

If it does not start go back to the carb and once again work the carb linkage by hand and see if you the gas squirting.

No squirt bad pump or bad filter.

If you have a q-jet make sure you check that tiny filter inside the carb inlet. They are a pain in the azz.

But before you do anything make sure the harness plugs did not fall out of the distibutor cap.

If none of that works. I'll give you 50 buxx for the car. biggrin

Yeah, that's weird. It just wouldn't start and then for no reason it just started and ran fine. We tried a few times and it still starts. Call me the next time it won't start and I'll see what I can do.

John, I check all the wiring to the distributor, all seems to be intact. although I didn't like the way someone hooked up his tach wire with a scotchlock
