car is finally home.

after about 2 years the car is finally home again. she's in rough shape. real rough shape but she's home. after much thought she will not be out this year. maybe a few shows but not like the days of old. next weekend frank and i are going to start pulling the interior apart. everything but the dash and see what i'm in for under the carpet. a quick inspection under the car shows the rear main is shot, trans isnt leaking, however the rear i think is. the front on the yoke is wet. the body.. well.. on a side note, tom if you can look at it for a few min and see what you think. the windshield.. well.. its DONE cant even clean it anymore. the tint has to be taken off and re done. needs new wheels and tires..

to say the least.. this sucks.

Sorry to hear the car is in a bit of rough shape Rob! But like you said it'll take a lil time but I'm sure it'll all get done...then again no car is ever done...I don't remember the interior being in that bad of shape when I last saw it...Well keep us updated as you get things done!

Joe

joe, the interior was mint.. i mean.. almost flawless. there was/is a rip on the seem where the plastic liner went on the side bulster and a small stain on the rear seat (no idea what though).. some idiot left a rubber chicken strapped in to the pass seat buckled in.. who knew they EXPLODE and melt to said seat...

my main concern is going over board buying things i dont really need. i'm tossing it in the air with putting it on the road this year or not. the only one whos really seen it in her glory was tommy. by all means she wasnt perfect but a damn good driver. and honestly thats all i want is a driver. when she's painted i want it show room quality.. not show car quality.

Dont blame me, my cheap ass went vinyl....lol

Let me know when you're in the area, swing by and see the quality for yourself. The tossing will stop and you'll just order a set.

I'll PM you my shop and cell numbers

lol she's a trooper. sat for 3 years straight, was my daily at one point, she has about 100 passes at the track.. 0 on this motor. needless to say.. she deserves to have it easy now. no more go fast mods.... much... maybe....she'll still see the track just not being pushed. finish her up enjoy her.. start on the next project. eyeing up a 66 nova... :D

*********UPDATE*********

today i took half the interior out. there is 0 rust/rot on the floors. there is one spot that is a bit "weak" in the metal. again, no rust or rot.. but so far everything is looking really good.

for the future plans the interior will stay out. we'll bring it back to franks house sand the floors, prime and POR-15 everything.

side note, i can see why the GN is heavier then the montes. the floor padding is SUPER SUPER thick. i've parted out 2 SS's, and 1 LS.. twice but whatever.. anyway never have i seen the carpet padding that thick.
