NYMCCC... How can I say this...?  I can barely say it without tears...

I am not officially retiring from the group, but I am throwing in the Monte Towel.  My most recent purchase of the red '07 SS (be glad you didn't buy it out east) has brought me nothing but bad luck.  Allow me to review...

1.  After Hurricane Sandy, National Grid decided to leave a giant piece of metal in the left lane of Rt. 135 (Seaford Oyster Bay Expwy) and I narrowly avoided it with my front driver wheel...  It just so happened it destroyed my rear driver side rim, and had to pay upwards of $600 for a new rim out of pocket.  Thankfully some cell pics and footage sent to National Grid got me the money back in a check.

2.  I backed out of my driveway into my neighbor's BMW 3 series because he's a poop head when it comes to parking.  600 dollars down the drain for a destroyed bumper with rain sensors.

3. During the construction on the inner lanes of the 135 (Seaford Oyster Bar Expwy) a stray orange barrel decided to enter the left lane during some high winds on the way home from work.  Dropping from 75/80mph to 45/50 mph and plowing into that thing has pretty much oppsed me beyond proportions when it comes to owning a fancy Monte Carlo...

This thing has been a curse, albeit I see it as a child to be nurtured.  I can no longer tolerate driving this rolling disaster, and I can no longer drive a sports car after this last winter.

I have relinquished the '07 SS for something I will pride myself in (because I can afford it and do it on my own)... I will be the proud owner of a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Sahara tomorrow night.

It's been a great gun ladies and gents, but I just can't do it anymore, even despite how little I've seen of you all.  The most recent winter and life circumstances will not allow me to keep the monte, and I'm very very hesitant to give it up... But it's what is needed.

To all of you who I've known throughout the years, and Joe (You get your own mention, silly goose), it has been a pleasure.  I will keep the Yellow SS plaque in a special place, not only in my heart, but in my closet, or garage or something, heh.

Thanks for a great run you guys/gals, but I won't be a stranger.  Maybe I'll show up in a Jeep some time this season!

Mike sorry to hear the monte brought nothing but bad luck, hopefully the jeep gives you nothing but good luck....And just cause you don't have a monte doesn't mean you can't come hang out when ever you have time. I will never forget our trips to and from Monte Madness, they were epic!!!

Good Luck with everything and don't be a stranger!
Joe

Sorry about all the problems Mike, if you need someone to do work on the Jeep, let me know. A buddy of mine owns a shop in Patchogue that specializes in Jeeps and off-road. I wouldnt trust anyone else.

Here's my brothers JKU on 35's to give you inspiration.
