You know Jay, Those songs were before my time, But I can honestly say I recognised them. As well as respect the Musicians. They were the best in their day. And yes, Some of todays Music is trash, But what can you do? I'm still stuck in the 80's Heavy metal scene. Bands like Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, W.A.S.P. and a few others. Guess I had better get my cassettes out while your jammin to your 8 tracks, LOL!

LOL! Dear Lord 45's! They made great frisbees, LOL!
I even have a few 8 tracks! And I know where they are too. My stereo in the garage has a add on 8 track player and Someplace at my Dad's I have a GM 8 track player that mounts under the dash, I found it in my 71 when I bought it, Installed it in there and pulled it out when I sold it. I was never into the tech world

I also master mix my own and my wife has hundreds of 50 & 60's Music CDs!.........Oh the "good old Days"!!
I won't say I don't like a FEW of the songs since then, but those are rare!
Thanks Jay for reminding us how good it WAS!!

I listen to the oldies more then I listen to today's music. My Dad would always listen them when I with him taking drives when I was little. This is real music. Todays music is so much different. I do listen today's music too but still gotta love the oldies.

LOL. I had 45's too, Old beatle ones, Monkies, Herman Hermits and they were brand new back then. Had to put the little yellow disc in the middle to play them on my 33 record player. I had a Led Zeppelin 8 track and a Cream one. Heck, I used to watch Annette Funicello on the show, MICKEY MOUSE, Mouseketeers.
I went to an oldies show, where Bobby Rydell, who is 65 years old sang, just like it was yesterday. The Crystals were there as well.
But, I do like some of today's music. I loved some of the 80's music, like Aerosmith and Def Leppard and U2. But I am mostly into country music now, love Keith Urban and Toby Keith. But some of today's music is not too bad, but a lot of it, is awful. LOL. I guess, I am not that old after all.

We recently saw Jay Black. He is 70 years old and he still sounds great. ...Not as powerful as when he was younger, but still great for his age. He can still hit the notes on Cara Mia. We try to go to as many Oldies shows as we can. Most of the old groups that still perform still sound pretty good, some are excellent.

Thanks Doc, I agree, all of todays music is just noise.
It was Johnny Maestro and the Crests that did 16 Candles, but that rendition was pretty good too. _________________

Here is a real Oldie, The Prinz Eugen Marsch......Now Doc and Leo actually served on this ship, the SMS Seydlitz. It didn't sink cause Doc whispered sweet nothings to her and Leo held the forward bulkheads because he was promised a good chicken dinner afterwards.....5,000 tons of water in her and she made it home.....

I have made it a point to try to listen to "some" of todays music just to know what is going on. I will not deny a lot of it is crap.
That being said I do still have all my vinyl I have ever owned. My first 7" The Whos You better you bet and my first 12" Foreigner 4. I still have a lot of my cassettes but do not have the 8 tracks I used to though which included Jerry Lee Lewis and Sonny and Cher.
As people get older they tend to look as the new music as weird or pointless and the younger generation thinks the same about older music. I was blessed to have a family that would listen to just about anything. Thanks to that I have a passion for music a lot of peole do not. My tasted are so varied I have had mix CDs that had Frank Sinatra and the next track be Marilyn Manson.
My grandfather played drums for big band music and I enjoy that type of music also. I love the sound of a screaming trumpet solo.
Speaking of horns we saw Earth Wind and Fire with Chicago over the weekend and was great.
As I've gotten older (no wisecracks! ) I have turned to some Country music, Crooners, like Sinatra, Martin, etc, Big Bands, and some of the new Pop music. But, my favorite music is 50's and early 60's music.
Rob, XM is great, I just can't justify paying for it. I'm only in the car fo about 30 - 40 minutes at a time..... and I have about 2500 songs on my computer, so i have plenty of doo wop discs.
