Jim's new rearend
Permalink Closed

ok well i blew my rear my last day at my old job so i needed a new one.thanks to Tommy for hooking me up with the new sweet rear.here's the pics
well i'm one step closer to the rear being swapped all of my stuff got here from Umi Performance today.going to drop the driveshaft off friday to get shorten and balanced and new joints done to it.Then next Saturday the 8th i'm driving to Long Island to pick up my rear from Tommy.I can't freaking wait

 ;D ;D ;D
well it's in tha garage now and going under the knife.well air tools..lol
dropped the driveshaft off friday morning to get shortened and started taking the rear apart before we left for Binghamton.

the driveshaft loop fit like a charm but you can't realy see it from  this angle and i didn't fell like climbing back under there to get a better one...lol
i had to get the bigger tools out including the sawzall. 1/2hr  to get the whole rear out and another our just to get the 4 old control arms off and alot of cursing and dirt.

now look at the different from the crappy stock stuff to the new stuff

smilewell i got my new rear so i'll be starting to put in in this week
my neighbro took my old lug nuts and machined them along woth my son to make them open lug nut since the new rear has longer ARP studs in it.

.

well i got the axles in the rear and filled it while it was out of the car.

and here's the axles. i love the stickers on them.

and here it is in place after sweating like a mofo we got it in place.once we got it in i said enough for tonight lets relax the hard part is done.

tomorrow night i'll get all the bolts tight and the driveshaft hooked up and whatever else i have time to do.
biggrin
well i got it all buttoned up under the car.just have to get the brakes on and bleed them and i'm off and running.had some running around to do tonight but i got it to a good point and at a bit after 9 i figured i'd call it quits for the day.

and here she is all in with her new suspension.damn i can't wait to get her on the ground.

built for 700-800hp and it was a great deal from Tommy so i bought it.
it is over kill for my car but hell you never know what i might add to it later.
yawn
furiousgrrrrr well i thought i'd have the car today but for some reason my driveshaft is hitting the driveshaft loop.maybe i put it in upside down but i don't think so.i think it's because when we put the TH350 trans in we slid the cross member forward which i believe lifted the tail of the trans up.but maybe it's just a mistake on my part.i was to mad last night to want to take it apart to i'll do it tonight or tomorrow morning. but here are some pics of the wheels on with the lug nuts my neighbor and Franky machined for me.

and here's a shot where i thought it was done.then i backed it out and heard the noise.

biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinman i'm in love
this new rear setup is way better then before.it's tight and fun to hammer the throttle.i'm almost glad i blew the last rear.
