Doug, Your planning on putting the A/C back in right? I'll look and see if I have that chrome spacer for the mount that goes to the exhaust manifold.

Im hoping to get that a/c back on, once the motor is out i can fix the hacked up air box with the one from my 87, see which wires are still there for it . also move the msd from passenger side well to drivers so i can put the correct over flow back on one thing at a time for now I guess, gota get the motor out first

getting some progress done on the 86 swap
Had my eye on this setup since last summer, saw it in another monte and was hooked on it since
so heres how we got to this point
2/23 ordered new motor from summit
2/26 new motor arrives at Amton

3/1 dropped of car, heres few shots of what the old 350 looked like

3/2 listed the old 350 on craigslist
3/4 old motor SOLD!!!!
3/6 old motor removed

and on its way to it new home

3/8 removed broken a/c box , hacked evap and  replaced with ones from my old 87 ls,, also removed MSD setup and jegs overflow bottle

then powerwashed ,

3/11 painted engine

3/30 installed the stock coolant jug from my 87 and looks way better than that old bottle
4/6 out of the grate, new flywheel and motor mounts(Thanks Clint) installed also installed new lower motor mounts

 and in she goes

LOL, that's what I used. smile

Doug, those are the same headers I have. Th installation was painless, with no upper control arm interference. You might want to get some stage 8 header bolts. They have an allen head as well as a hex head. The allen head makes it much easier to tighten on some of the bolts that have limited space for a wrench. They are well worth the money.... btw, that motor looks fantastic!!!! smile

So this is what goes on when I'm not around???! LOL!

Looks great Doug! I saw it last Monday when I stopped at Dan's Shop. Sounds like you got a great deal on it too. Glad to see your building the car the way you want it.

By the way, what did you do with the MSD???

sorry joe no pics of me in the engine bay lol

Doc, I remembered you telling me about them  header bolts and the better gaskets and purchased both as well,, Thank you for the tip smile

thanks everyone for the comments, Im really excited about this, this is something I wanted to do for years and is now finally happening.

Dave , jegs goofed on there catalog printing and the price was lower than anyone else . I went thorugh summit and they actually did a "beat a price "  vs jegs price,,so it was a good deal.

The msd  is gone, I had no use for it, I gave it to Dan, he wanted one for the duster
