For all you 6th gen Monte Carlo and Grand Prix with the 3.8L owners out there.
Today I had another W-body show up on the hook, there was no power to the fuel pump. and it had 2 codes P0480 Coolant Fan Low Speed relay circut malfuntion and P0481 Coolant Fan High Speed relay Circuit Malfuntion. After tracing down the fuel pump wiring I found the harness, that goes from the PCM to the Engine, Rubs through on the forward valve cover. Thus breaking the trigger wires to the relay in the underhood fuse block. The harness lays between the drive side dogbone mount and the valve cover. Once I pulled the harness apart I found the fan control wiring was rubbed through as well.
In the last month I had two other cars come in with the Fuel Pump command wired rubbed through and other wired exposed. This is starting to look like a common issue on the 3.8L series II [if the harness strap is missing or broken] and III.
