So after last weekends visit to the yard and getting a couple of different type of underhood braces (3rd gen a-frame brace and cuttlass fender brace) it got me to investigate if there are any other pieces that are out there.  I know that there are some X-braces available for behind the rear seat (i believe the Regals and maybe the GP's had them) but from looking on the Turbo Buick website, I noticed a radiator brace, or Jaunce supprt as they like to call it I guess

now I know most of the people here have the diagional braces, as I believe they were part of the F41 package, but did it also include the additional brace as well?  It seams this may be a GP only brace?  Anyone have one??

Christ thats a lot of Bracing!!! On this picture:

I know My 86 and Matts 84 have the two that go from the crossmember forward, But the one that goes side to side, I have never seen. But I like the look. Maybe one of those GP in Ables has one.

As for the underhood shot, the fender to radiator support arms, Again, I have no idea. But they look too much with the 3rd gen bars. too distracting IMO.

And that one that goes across the rear at the bumper supports, I have seen a custom one. I am thinking of seeing if I can get some tubing and make a set for Matt's and My cars this summer. I'll let you know how it turns out.

my 85 has a 36mm hollow swaybar from a GTA. it bolts in with a little modification to the clamps to the chassis. the "jounce bar" and the nose to fender braces the radiator brace. then recently i boxed the upper/lower trailing arms. has the back seat brace(can be easily fabricated or u can get a version at turbobuicks.com) and finally the rearbumper brace(this can also be fabricated relatively easily). also, the transmission mount adds alot of rigidity to the car. u can get a g-force or an iceman brace. they dont work in my car due to my exhaust.

i like the way this car handles. it is a completey different feel than my stock 87. but also my car has polyurethane body bushings & KYB's. i HATE the poly!! feels great on the straights but over little bumps they create lots of NOISE. my 85 isnt a good looking car and needs outside appearance help but underneath its respectable.

also,  you can find some braces in old's.  im sure u r aware that g-bodies interchange.  my old malibu had a hodge podge of pieces throughout. from other g's as well as caddys and f-bodies.

the olds have supports under the hood like 3rd gen f-bodies but they are really small in diameter but they do have the radiator brace and if i remember right some had the rear seat braces.

the GP had the most bracing.  they had the nose to fender braces they have to be at least 3/4" hollow then the jounce bar and rad bace as well as f-41 parts.

but in a think 86 and newer g they had the rear seat brace built into the body.  you can still add the extra bracing it does even stiffen a bit more.

the third gen montes had the braces in the engine bay the go from the firewall to the fenders.

oh yea and the malibu can have an aluminum header panel the panel that goes across the chassis that hold the headlights.
