Hey all some of you know that the monte is ill. her trans desided to not work correctly so i'm going to bite the bullet and take the TH350 out and get a 200-4R trans for it. i already chatted with Tommy a bit on the guy he knows but i'm looking for any other input here's a site i found that seams pretty good out of most of them i've seen. plus a 3 year warranty with there transmission w/ the purchase of there converter which is $429.00 and the trans is $1,695.00 so anyway here's the link and i'd like some good input or opinions i should say.
I have heard good things about CK Transmissions, California Performance Transmissions and Bowler Transmissions too. All have high quality 2004-R units from what I have heard and read. I am getting a new 200-4R as soon as I am employed again and I have also spoken to Tommys guy.
yup i was looking into CK's trans also Rich. just not sure which way to go. it's a lot of money, but i know if i want to play i have to pay... was trying to stay under $2,500.00 because i may need a shifter and other stuff which i'm not sure yet as to what else i'll need. the one from WWW.eatmyshift.com looks good 3 year unlimited mileage warranty with the purchase of there converter and free shipping so $2124.00 would be the prioce from them on the trans and the converter.

I would think the 3 year warranty speaks for itself. Just for the heck of it i looked at TCI transmission which offered a 90 day warranty and ATI transmissions, I could not find any warranty info.
WOW! I didn't think transmissions got that expensive! I'm glad I have a guy to rebuild ours. I'm taking Matt's 700R4 to him next month and It will come back just about bullit proof. And no where near the $$ that place is talking

Scott i had a 200-4r in the car then swapped the th350 in and used the same cross member. i also have a double humoe member sitting in the shed but i don't know what trans it was. for the th350 to go in i mover the cross member forward and redrilled the frame so now i just slide it back to where it was original and i'll be fine.i'm also not getting a lock up converter for mine.
i just submitted the papers for my loan to get the trans and whatever else i need to do the job and money to find myself another daily driver.

Jim, You probably could use the same shifter, just couldn't drop it into 1st gear, the others should all line up.
And yeah, the 200R4 is always more expensive, But it has the lower 1st and higher 4th gears than the 700R4 if I remember correctly, Plus it is a tad shorter.

I suggest CK, been running a stage 2 for many years now still works like new!! Awesome trans for sure! Stay away from Monster and TCI, nothing but bad feedback from people that have used those Can't speak for any of the others one way or the other
jim.. get at me on AIM. that trans is overpriced.. what kind of converter is that?
i'm not a fan at all of chris from ck as a person. he does build a great trans. do not go to a gernaric trans builder for a 200.
personally, there is only a few places i'll go for my trans. witch i need to do shortly.
century trans (mike kurtz) jimmy's trans (in chicago) extreem overdrive (something to that affect) in vegas.
i'll argue anyone that says a properly built 200 should slam gears. if a 200 is slaming gears its built wrong and wont last. under WOT a properly built 200 should be just firm and quick no more no less.
jim get at me and i'll point you in the right direction with a few converters and people

going to have to go with rob on century trans, did some 200's for the shop a few years back and they were great. not a fan of the o.d. trans but when built rite they will stand up strong and again rob is on the money with the slamming gears thing... best of luck with this jim. mike

not sure what i'm doing, but i did check out century and they're expensive. i'm trying to stay under $2,500.00 i know i need to pay to play but i need to have a limit. i need the OD i also don't want to have to convert stuff over to get a trans in my car. that's why i want the 200-4r so i can bolt it in. all these different opinions are messing with my head. i don't know which way to go plus i'm still trying to find another daily driver.

i need a converter in that price as well Rob. and they're going for 500-800 jsut on the cheaper side. that's why between a trans and converter i want to stay under $2,500.00

jim, look at pats converters. they're amazing. i'm going with one. are you done with your car as far as the motor? going to spray? if your done i dont see why a basic street/strip trans wont do the job. i paid $995 for mine. the converter was another 300. my trans is good for high 11's. i have over 20k miles and about 75-100 passes on the trans and it still acts as it did when i picked it up.
well i double check CK transmission site and there converter is 300-600 i'm not sure what one to get. the trans is $1499.00 thru them as well
Rob i'm not going to spray but i might so the GM hot cam some poing in time, but not anytime soon. so i only have 385HP and 385 torque as of now. also i wasn't going to bother with the lock up i don't think i need it. Rob, this is the price thru that Pat's site
12" 2800 stall. i talked to Chris and told him what the car was and all. and he said i'd be fine with that and will have the lock up set up in the trans that all i'll have to do is run a 12volt key on wire to power it up.and i might do my own shifter with stuff from shiftsworks so i can use my console

i won't need a kit Rob. Chris told me it'll be wired up in the trans so that all i need to do is run a 12v fused with the key on. after it shifts into 4th the converter will lock up. once i get on it to pass or something the converter will unlock and kick down. no extra wiring or relays required he said.

i ordered the trans from CK performance. hopefully i made the right choice we'll see.
You won't be disappointed, Chris - CK makes a damn fine tranny!!! Mine has been a dream for all these years, and I am NOT exactly gentle on my car......still works like brand new!
my transmission got delivered today here at work. i won't be putting it in until next week sometime probably. have other stuff going plus taking the Hoe to LI this weekend so i need to go over some other stuff i need to do to it.
