...are illegal....

It doesn't matter if US Government, the DOT, or any body of government approves of the design, if a Maryland Police Officer says they look/are illegal then the Judge will believe him over all else:

Judge says G8 Tails illegal

See now I wish I had a G8 to take to Ocean City...anyone know where I can burrow one for a weekend? lol

its is funny to think that next year those taillights might be on some cop cars since GM is going to bring them in for police use. but that is bs though.

Thats bull!!!! DOT means it's approved period! If I was that guy, I'd be filing a lawsuit ina higher court against the Officer and the Judge for being stupid!!!

I am pretty sure those weren't stock tailights, my nephew has one and the taillights don't look like that. JMHO, the judge isn't the final authority on the legality anyway, nor is the cop.

Leo, does your son have the V8 or the V6, I believe the tail lights are different across the models, from the ones I have seen the picture used in the link looks like the stock tails either on the g8 gt, or g8 gxp models...the v6's have the same shape but are mostly all red....

Just curious.

If you read the post below the story you will find the tailights were modified. He went so far as to disassemble them and paint stuff inside the housing.
