wagon is going bye bye.

had a minor setback today, pulled the intake to check things out and glad we did. Looks like Im buying a new cam / lifter set. One of the cam lobes is 90% worn and the lifter is 1/8" shorter than the rest with a nice dish on the cam side. 500 miles, 14 months and Comp Cams wont warranty it because its over the 1 year mark.

Wanna guess who will be pulling their intake off 11 months from now?

Scott make sure you use the correct oil. these new cams don't like the oil.the stupid government had the oil peeps take zinc out of the oil. a lot of peeps were using the Rotella diesel oil but now the governement went after that oil now as well. you need to put oil in that has Zinc in it. this has been a problem with many new cams for the past few years. that's why the bigger cam companies sell there own oil with zinc in it. i just had this conversation again the other night with the guy at my speed shop. most of them just tell you to run it for break in but he said he recommends running it at all times. with a hydraulic roller you don't need to worry about it.

I use the ZZDP with every oil change to keep my flat tappet cam safe.

When I get to doing a cam upgrade I will be going with a hydrolic roller.

Having a fitment issue and need to sort it out, will wait till spring when I have some more cash. We cant get the OEM brackets to work with the vortec heads / manifold. May end up fabbing a bracket. Also need to downgrade to some short valve covers for clearance.

I really just want to get it done and on the road to hit the last few shows of the season.

Thanks everyone!! Have to tune the carb and get the idle figured out. Also have to swap the power steering pump with the one from the wagon, the OEM one in the Monte is leaking and the one in the wagon is brand new.
