well guys and gals, as some of you know i have another toy. it's a 1979 ranger bass boat with a evinrude 135hp hanging off it. i got the boat for free with the ranger trailer, was heading for the scrap heap. been doing some things over the last couple of years trying out different things and such. i've been putting a fair amount of time in it lately. i still have just a few items left now, carpeting the deck and some covers and a trolling motor and 2 more electronics.i put in some borgessen power reeds and have a CMC tilt trim plate out back  i might be going for a re-power this fall, we'll see. mike

finally got a cover, was a pita to clean before working on the thing

and some work over the last few weekends. new items. new helm and cable. new fuel tank and lines. some new wiring and a batt. switch. redid the dash and moved the helm out from gunwale about 8". lowered the remote some and moved it forward. made a new dash panel... i put a batt box up front for the trolling motor and quick acc. hook ups.

Nice!! Nothing wrong with restoring a free Boat! Hpe you've been able to enjoy it on the water while working on it.

well guys, got a few more items off the list of to do. carpeted the main floor and a little area between the seats, seems to be an ass break area if i didn't lol. seats are fully mounted now and what's left is the rear upper area for carpet.. still waiting on the lower unit parts. go figure. get the #'s put on and a trolling motor and it will be an assassination of the local fish stock. mike

thanks again guys, over the hump now... got the last of the lower unit parts in and i may repower before to long, so i went ahead and pulled the motor to work on the transom and the little pocket in front of the motor, had some nasty cracks. pics aren't the best, sunshine can be a pain... i just used some good car paint on the transom. 3 coats primer/sealer, 2 coats primer, 3 coats white paint and 4 coats clear. mike

well guys, satdurday was a bust on working on the truck... to nice out. so i got the boat ready for a trip to the marina up the street where it will stay in a covered slip with power and water. anyways, i got the boat there and back it into the water and guess what? lower plate mount bolts leaking. ugh!!!! figured the boat can't sink completely and i had much needed work on the trailer, so i start the boat and go into gear which is slipping like a you know what. i get the boat in the slip, get the trailer home and worked on and some fresh paint. go back to get the boat and spent 20 min. adjusting the cables while my feet dangled in the water... boat starts and goes into gear. yippie i come back and as i'm pulling into the driveway i catch a glimpse of the neighbors dog lying in said driveway, i jerk the wheel at last second and bam, i catch a trailer tire on the culvert pipe... needless to say not a fun day....
sunday, i go to the shop and get a spare for one of the trailers and head to walley world for a just bought and lost hand pump for lower unit gear oil.. grrrrr. i get home and fixed the bolt leaks and the tire, tie the boat back down and off to the water again.

boat fires rite up goes into gear great and even idles at 650rpm, never done that lol. i get it into it's slip and check for leaks, NONE!!!!!. threw a few lines in the water trying to catch some bass slappin' the banks, great day so far....

i head home for some lunch and to let the boat sit for awhile... i went back after watching the texans beat the chiefs. yippie i took the boat down the creek for a few miles and all i got to say is AWESOME!!!! boat wants to fly, throttle up at 2500 and at 3000 boat is on plane and running up to 4200 like no bodies business. i'll have to get used to the water ways a bit more before i open her up all the way
. mike

Congrats Mike. Next year you can drop it in the gulf, swing down around Florida, and then up the east coast to Sea Pirate.
