Well, after having these parts laying around for a couple of years, I finally used them and converted over to electric mirrors. The labor is pretty straight forward. Without any problems and somebody that knows how to hook them up (not me), it should take from 3-4 hours.
You remove the mirror brackets and cable as one asembly from the old cable mirrors and replace them with the motor brackets and motors from an 82-89 ( I believe) Camaro. I used a mirror switch from a 2002 Grand Am. I had the harness that came from the doner Camaro so I had the connector for the mirrors that go to the doors. The switch connector was from GM to mate to the Grand Am switch but you could use any switch with a mating connector. Mount the switch in your choice of locations, run the harness, snake em in the doors, give it power and a ground and your done.
This is the motor bracket mounted in the Monte housing. Screws right in.
Motor mounted.... piece of cake!
This is what is mounted in the motor housing..... you don't want to know why we had it apart.
Mount the mirror back on the door and bingo, lookin good so far.
Right side done
Now, pick a spot of your choosing for the switch. I went for the hole for the existing right side mirror control.
a slight (about 1/16") mod to the dash panel hole was needed for clearence between the rear defroster switch and the mirror switch.
Finished result ..
NOW, on to the hard part (for me anyway) This was a closed course with a professional technician, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! (obligatory disclaimer, ).... Just kidding. If you know how to read a schematic and have the ability to minipulte your body into grotesque positions you're in bussiness. I enlisted a long time friend (why he's still a "friend" for a long time remains a mystery) for this installation and he made it look simple... and for him it was!
Now to make it neat and pretty
after reassemling the dash, you're done. Looks like this
Looks like a factory installation. Works great and no more sloppy cable contrlled mirror that always need to be readjusted. I left the joystick control head in place to fill the hole on the door panel. Looks like the car still has the old cable control ... but we all know better now.
A special thanks goes to my Friend John (last name withheld ). He is craftsman in the truest terms. You should see the motor fiasco that went on behind the scene and John's way to "git her done!" Thanks again John and his lovely wife Marion!!!

great mod doc!! turned out awesome! Makes u wonder why GM didnt make that an option seeing that the parts are all compatible with the different model chevys.
