Just got back from the body shop, Monte goes in on the 18th!!!!!!

 

Getting it stripped & painted. Going with a GM Bright White with Chrysler Bight Silver Metallic rally stripes. also getting a Goodmark steel cowl hood. All factory black accents will stay the factory black.

 

I wanted to do a pearl white, but finances arent there. So going with what I wanted to do originally when I bought it.

 yup, known him for a few years, 30+ years body / paint experience. Opened up his own place a couple years ago. Seen 10-15 cars he has done since Ive known him.

 

Im gonna try to get down there daily to take progress pics. If not, I'll leave one of my cheapo cameras there for Dave to shoot pics as he works.

 

Having the antenna shaved and he's going over the whole car. Have a few door dings to take care of. Ordered the hood this afternoon. Said 3-5 days delivery.

Well, a quick update, car is all sanded, all the door dings and crap are fixed, she is straight as an arrow!!!! Antenna is shaved, some other issues are taken care of. Hood gets fitted tomorrow and prepped. Should be painted Monday!!!!!!! I have to order a few pieces for re-assembly, need new door locks, the ones I got off ebay arent the right ones. Also need the mirror gaskets. Replacing headlights while its all apart and all the exterior bulbs while its in pieces.

Had a small delay getting it into the shop, hood delayed us, then he got an insurance job while waiting on the hood to be delivered. Hood came in PERFECT!!! Not a ding, scratch or blemish to be found. And it was cheaper than anyone else online. 2" Goodmark, $389 + $50 shipping. Summit was $449 + $100 shipping and out of stock till Sept.

Dont have pics because I left him my camera and I cant get back there till Wed. So I didnt want to take the camera and not have it there while its being done.

Looks great Scott, But why didn't the painter take the tail lights out? I mean it's only 4 screws and 4 bulbs, would have saved on tape!
