whats wrong with driving to see a car?? I drove an hour to Tim's house, then We drove 5 hours from Tim's house just to look at his green one. Drove 5 hours home and then I drove another hour home. All in 1 day. Then 3 days later Tim drove 5 hours to pick it up. Thats just the way it goes!

wow.. well to me i just would hate to drive far then look at car and go .. got scratch here or interrior in bad shape or something that wasnt mentioned in the ad.. only reason i wanted this one i got now cause i wanted this color back in 07 but was week to late on ordering one (closed production end june 07) and this had very good low mileage not low like mine.. not even 30k on mine and this had 40k and was yr older so looking at like 8k per yr on this one ..but then got some issues to fix door rubbing in corner on passenger side , need new headlight asamble on driver side due to condensation, somehow had bunch water in spare tire hold, need a amp since looks like the person before took factory out and wired their own then took theirs with them leaving me danging wire... has newer battery but maybe wasnt sriven for while and battery wasnt jumpable, engine 5.3 faceplate all worn for some reason so gonna oder new one.. squeeky noise on passenger side inside somewhere (not bad enough im bothered by it but i know its there), due to light color interior some light dirty areas/spots im hoping a really good detail place can clean like new otherwise might look into finding way to just replace the seat covers in the 2 front seats... all minor stuff but cause im always been very anal on keeping my cars like new just hard to except a "used" car that wasnt anally kept clean like i do with mine... i wanted the color and loved the light interrior color with the blue and had very low mileage so i had to take the bad with the good ..lol.. my cars always been show car clean.. so ill just have to get her up to that standard.. give her some loving she never got before..

It was at 39,9800 when I looked at it.  Sticker price 16, 900.  The most comparable and nearest deal was in Freeport here in Nassau for 14,900 at 65k miles.  So I said to myself... 20k Mile  difference or so was just about 2k, and relatively justified.  Plus see below...

I got a sweet deal on my '03 trade-in, considering the state it was in.  I wouldn't have paid more than 3.5k for it, but they gave me 5k for it.  The thing was in major disarray.  It needed a paint job, inspection, and a lot of work. The check engine light was on, it was dirty as poop, and the transmission was literally on it's last legs (considering I replaced it once already).  So I guess you could say I kind of played the dealership, because they barely even looked at what I was giving them, haha!

So when you combine the low mileage of the '07 and the poopty condition of my '03, I really think I walked away without  overpaying.  Plus my monthly payment through the loan is really good, and well within my income to afford.

Speaking of the new car, I recently discovered something wrong with it, and I was not happy.  I did not test out the wiper fluid when I drove it for the first time.  The wiper fluid doesn't work and I have no Idea what the hell to do to fix it.  I was considering bringing it to a shop when I have off, but if anybody can offer advice, I'm all ears.  Plus the check engine light came on as well.  Nothing I can't handle financially, but WTF I pick up the damn thing and the check engine light comes on a day later?  Coincidence? Idunno, I'm a little suspicious.

Otherwise the thing is a BEAST.  So much power... And XM radio is nice, without having to pay for it.  The interior is basically pristine, other than the fact that it came with carpet floor mats (this will change, lol).  There's a teeny scratch or two, but I can easily overlook that considering the condition of my old monte.

So that's that.  There's the update.  Any advice is welcome!

Jon, when I was looking for my 4th gen, I spent over a year looking from North Carolina to Mass. and everywhere in between. yeah I saw some bad cars, but if you want something bad enough, you will do whatever it takes to get it. Dave and I saw two other cars when we looked at my '88, and the other two needed a lot of work. They were asking for more money then what I eventually paid for my '88, which made me feel beter about the gem that I found. I've gotten quite a few compliments on my car and I couldn;t be happier... Looking back, had I limited my search to just in this area, I would have paid twice as much for less of a car.

true true.. just not to many blue ss out there and with low mileage and this was only going for $14k (humm as i wonder why lol) otherwise yea i saw bunch online i had narrowed it to.. i really wanted like i had on my 07 a 6 disc cd changer.. which i see i can order online i just gotta find then someone to install it lol.... but next time i buy used which will only be when i look for a 4th gen ill make sure ill go where ever last thing i want it pretty on outside but rust underneath.. a guy one yr when i was at a local car night he had a 4th gen LS monte black and chrome all original and wow was she prettyyyyyyy... he advised me basically what i stated above (this was when i had my 07) use that as daily and find one u want and look for one from down south where u wouldnt have to worry about rust issues.... i saw a new mustang 5.0 today and im like i want little badge like his but mine saying 5.3 lol but i looked online and their new 5.0 has 420 horsepower.. compared to my 303.. im glad i thought ahead and didnt try seeing who had the bigger cahonjes.. i know the previous gt model no problem but the new gt model called the 5.0 is same priced as mine new 30k but im pretty sure i cant shove another hundred horse in mine..(or can i lol) im figureing ill just do diablo predator and exhaust and intake and whatver else and be happy and do indeed get a 4th like loved when i was a kid and treak that to max instead buttt again keeeping the engine original in a 4th gotta feel more speicall when showing her off i mean anyone can toss a vette engine in a car but then ur really not driving whatver car that body is.. its now basically a vette with a ugly body lol..

Mike, You just bought it. Take it back for the Check Engine light under warranty. You should have 30 days. Unless you left the gas cap loose, there is a good chance it was on prior. Lots of dealerships that we work for clear the codes, run the monitors and sticker it. Then if it comes back, they worry about it.

As for the washer fluid, most likely a bad pump. Hard part is that it is located behind the bumper cover, in front of the right front wheel. You need to pull the inner shield to access it.

And I didn't think the 03 was in that rough of shape. Glad you got a good deal on it

first.. hope3anarchy99... you gotta stop. the wiper fluid is something i doubt the dealer tested out. i really do not think its a big deal for him to take it back and they'll fix it.. they have to by ny state law. you werent happy with a oil change and tire rotation? really cant mess that up. the wipers.. my mom had NEW vw wipers put on her car ( can only get them from the factory) and they broke.. they're only a few months old.. things happen.

good luck with the car mike

all i was saying is i knew i didnt even have the rubber part on my driver side wiper arm cause it was completly off and just wedged under the arm when i washed the car day before.. was gonna get new wiper within day or 2.. then noticed local dealership had saturaday hours and i wanted to get a oil change and tire rotation for first time since having car.. and when i left i was reading the paperwork and it said all the things they check while performing a oil change which included check wiper blades.. and since my blades i can only get that style for that car from dealership woulda been nice they noticed i needed a new wiper.. had to by a wiper from auto zone that was similar to style to match my factory one on passenger side... the guy at auto zone said the reason for the style i have on the monte is for at higher speeds the style of blade with the wind keep wiper on windshield and therefore can only get that style from a dealship but they cost alot more thou than one i got but i woulda rather paid that extra to have matching blades and ones designed for that car.. and since the mechanic didnt check my blades i wonder what didnt he also not check but claimed they do.. my dad used to be a car salemen for chevy and he always advised me not to go to valvoline places cause they try sell u stuff u dont need and dont change ur oil but say they do ect ect.. and if they mess something up its not under warrenty unlike u go to dealship and they mess something up the dealership will fix it ..blah blah.. but after this dealership didnt even check a simple wiper blade, all im saying is who can u truely trust then... theres been times i had a car at a dealship and took forver to get the car into a bay then wham done 5 minutes later and then had times when car got right in and wham took longer.. just saying why cant they haveing vewing area's to watch ur car like they have at delta sonic when they clean ur car..

you need to take a deep breath and relax.. and if thats from me saying it.. its true.

1. auto zone people arent "car" people for say.
2. the wiper wont come up at speed.. i promise.
3. bring the car back let them put the wiper on the car
4. no.. i'm sure the valvoline place story is a myth. infact.. when i'm lazy and dont want to do the oil in my cars.. places like that give BETTER service..
5. relax..

but already paid for the one wiper blade so pointless go back dealership .. plus i didnt mean to have it sound like the wiper blade would fly upat high speeds but from what guy said and by how the wiper blade does indeed have a spoiler design to it im sure his story has some truth to it..... and yea the intant oil change places could be myth but when i had gone there in pass they do try selling u every gas additive there is.. but again at the dealership the service guy told me yea i need new tires soon and asked my dad if they make commission and he said yes so basically both places gonna try sell u stuff that u might or might not need and who knows when to call their bluff lol..now granted when i bought the car i had my mind on other issues about the car and forgot to worry about car fax speically since i didnt want to know anyways cause i wanted the car just hope she didnt have bad relationships in past that gonna make her unlikeable.. the water in my wheel well housing in trunk a friend of mine showed me why and it was what i was pondering about before that the sealant around my back window didint seem right.. and after my friend looked at it and found a weak spot and that ive noticed tiny little square glass shards in my trunk that im sure my back window was replaced for some reason or another and whover sealed the new window did bad job and thats why trunk has water issues.. and a passenger side corner panel by bottom of the passenger side door rubs metal against metal u can see how the corner panel behind the tire was maybe pushed in a little even thou u see no actual dmg but some how its not lining up.. i know dealer knew what was up thats why they sold it for only 13.9k with a car with only 40k mileage.. granted i didnt ask and when i did ask about other smaller issues she goes well its used so ..... basically saying we dont care we not gonna come out and tell u everything its a used car take it or leave it.. my fault for not asking car fax but even then not everything is reported so cant really count on car fax...its just reminds me why i never owned a used car before.. this is why.. i just gotta hope i dont find out theres a major crack somewhere or something else.... if i had bought a fleet car np i would understand but i would asume most people buying a sports model isnt gonna treat the car as a pick up..

but im relaxing just gotta hope with my love and care she will be like new again in due time

lol.. well has low mileage thats a plus, and is the color i wanted back in 07 before found out was week late on ordering one(factory shut down end of june 07 i was few days late on picking color).. therefor did a dealer trade and got a red one(which i fell in love with very nice red color).. but besides those two pluses, been finding alot little issues now and making me worry about what else i might find..

as the saying goes if the price seems to good then theres something they not telling u..

the reflextions look better i think on the red than on my blue but ill have to do a side by side...
now when i had my red 07 i got alot stone chips on hood and when asked about dealership about it, body shop manager told me he's has many issues with that red from chevy.. so i dont know if a bra would look good cause of ur 2 tone.. but as u see in my pics ur get to love ur red soon enough
