Started my quest for a Monte, from Franklin Square

Hello all, I'm Danny and I live in Franklin Square, Nassau County, NY.  Since I was a kid I've loved montes when a friend of mines older brother had a '87 SS in the mid 90s.  I've begun the process saving money and searching for an 80s monte as a project.  I figure in 2 years time  or less I'll have saved enough to buy a decent car in need of some TLC.  I know I want T-Tops and a v8 for sure. I would say I have moderate mechanical ability but the willingness to try anything on something thats not my daily driver.   Any advice as to what to look for, stay away from, etc?
