Tim, I'm really thinking Truckfest at Summit!!!! LOL!
Bob, it's still a 4X4, trust me the 8 MPG proves that, LOL!
Scott, I really don't think I can find any more white, But I do have a few ideas....... Oh yeah and a half gallon of white paint left over so we'll see what happens in the Spring

I replaced the O2 sensor and bumped up the timing, It has a lot more power and the gas gauge doesn't move as much. Hopefully I can fill the tank this weekend and see what kind of mileage it gets.

Spent some time this weekend finishing up the compass/temp rear view mod. Had it all wired a month ago, but had a bad sensor that I finally grabbed last weekend. Works great now, so I cleaned the interior. LOL!

hey i was just going on what he said..
thats why i was asking cause our family always been chevy and the inside shows all chevy...
Found time to do some more work on the Truck this week.
Last Sunday, picked up a transfer case skid plate at the junkyard for $5. Cleaned it up and bolted it on.
Diana bought me a set of tube steps for my Birthday. Had to get universal ones that mounted to the frame, did not want to take the chance of body bolts breaking. A little bit of cutting and drilling, but they fit nicely tucked up above the frame and closer to the body.
Passenger side
Driver side
And I bought a light bar from Off Road Warehouse. It finally arrived today! Took a whole 20 minutes to install. Now I just need some lights to mount on it.
The plain old front end.
The light bar
The new look!
And it doesn't stick out too far or sits too high.
I have a few cheap lights I will mount Sunday, but as soon as I can, I'm ordering a set of Summit Racing 8" round lights.

love those front bars!!! Always wanted one when I had trucks.
As for lights, make sure they are metal housing with glass lenses. Then swap in some 110watt PIAA Superwhite bulbs. I actually have a set from my Jeep sitting on a shelf. PIAA 8" lights with 165watt bulbs. Like instant daylight when you flip the switch. Saving them for a special project.
Scott, I have loved the looks of that bar for years! This is the look I was looking for:
But only 2 lights, 4 is a bit overkill.
And I Believe they are metal housings, not 100% sure off the glass. I don't go wheeling at night so I don't need that much light. But I'm also thinking of a set of LED bars that mount to the main bar. I wish I could find a set of rectangular ones, The round ones don't look right with the rectangle headlamps and marker lights

Thanks Jim, and YES that drill is quite old. But I forgot to bring home my cordless from work and the other drill wouldn't hold a 7/16" drill bit. I wasn't about to run and buy a bit that was shanked down juts to drill 2 holes.

you should build yourself a relay harness to draw the power from the battery and use the OEM headlight harness as the switch for it. You'll get longer life and less issues than just pulling power from the OEM headlight wiring. HIDs take a lot of power to start up
Scott, I tried that on the 01. Didn't work correctly. So I put them the way they were. Haven't had an issue in 5 years. And for $30 for 5 years, I don't think that's all that bad. But I pull the headlights every so often to clean behind them. I check the harness and make sure they haven't started to melt.
Only issue I found, there is no screw mount for the unit. They give you double sided tape to mount it. Yeah, that ain't happening on a dirty fender. I just zip tied them so they don't bounce around. Work really good. Can't wait till dark!

Ok, The tires are on and she rides like a dream!!! Bumped the truck height up 2 inches. They didn't rub, but they came close to the lower corner of the front valance. I had Matt cut the inner corner off so there would be no chance.
Then decided to see how well they work. A little wheelin in the snow
Has plenty of clearance too

Thanks Jim, I finally get it all together and today I hear a funny scraping noise. And then I noticed I lost half a tank of gas! Pulled over and the rear tank strap broke!
Fortunately, I was able to get to work and bolt in some of that universal strap. Come the warmer weather, I'll install 2 new straps. I will have to raise the bed to access the upper clip that broke. Too friggen cold to do that now.

Yeah, I will get them replaced soon. I'm hoping I can take it out your way to hit that yard in a few months. Really don't want to worry about a full tank of gas dropping to the ground.

Great Job Matt.... I've got a brand new shrinker & stretcher set as well as a new bead roller and dies I'd be willing to trade towards some much needed body and paint work on my Monte.........
