Its not that bad but the arguing with the insurance has started. They looked at some pics of the wreck and said they would settle for $535. The bumper cover has a hole and the side view mirror hit the left tail light and scuffed it. I know having them put on GM parts is going to be a problem too
Bob, settle for $535? It wasn't your fault, Make them pay the full amount! And Seeing as the car is a 07, and They may not have aftermarket parts out for it yet, You maybe lucky and will get GM parts. Tell the Insurance Company that you want it repaired at the Dealership! Oh and Say the car is a show car, show them pics of it at car shows, they may swing your way.

i garatee thats about $1000 in damages. since it was there fault, don;t accept aftermarket bumpers. most bodyshops wont even touch them cause of the fitment issues, but some will just slap it on. When my wife got rearended in the Malibu, it was $1400 and wasn't even close to the amount of damage that you have. Fight it Bob
whoever you are dealing with in the insurance company, go over his head and threaten them, it worked for my hubby. When we had our truck back box side ran into, he told them point blank, new parts. He won the argument.

Whoa they can't make that estimate...it has to go to a body shop or dealership, and the dealership has to give the price to the insurance company and they have to battle it out so it gets fixed as good as new without costing you a penny!!!! Besides it's thier insurance company thats paying for it, so your insurance company should battle it with them!!!
And while your at it see if you can throw a v8 in that thi...oh wait...lol..
bob it depends on the shop your dealing with my friends shop fights for the customer and does not let them tell him aftermarted is fine or used. if they say you need to go aftermarket he buys it paints it then shows theco how they dont fit right makes them pay him for his time and the part then makes them buy oem parts and gets paid for it again. most just let him buy oem now.

Good Luck! Keep us updated!!! Joe
it really depends on the insurance company, and in Bob's case, it has to do with the idiots insurance company. For the example of when Crystal got rearended., we contacted our insurance, and they told us that we needed to contact their insutance comany directly. They then sent their claims adjustor to do an estimate on the damage. I picked the collesion shop (dealer) and they point blank said, we are NOT doing the aftermarket parts. only OEM. There was additional damage than what was initially inidcated, and then their insurance company had to go to the dealer to accept the claim.
This company is from out of state. I am getting estimates now. It was not my fault and I am getting GM parts on it. I talked to my insurance company and they would fix it but I have to come up with the deductible then they go after the other insurance company. I don't want to go that route. I'm not sure how they came up with that number. The GM bumper is $450 bucks alone

The rear fascia (unpainted) on an 07 SS is $732. Fight them, don't let them BS you.

Seriously, I have Geico and when someone hit me I needed a new fendor, it was totally not my fault and guess what? I did nothing! The insurance company did it all once I called and told them what happened....I pay my deductable and my car was fixed as good as new with OEM parts, and in less then a months time I had my deductable back....I guess your right it depends on insurance company, but isn't that what were paying them for in the first place?? To go after the others insurance when something happens...I always thought that was the way it worked....
boy thats weird Joe, we have Travlers, and they wanted nothing to do with it. We had to contact the other peoples insurance. It all worked in the end, and wasn;t too bad. 15 min on the phone, and everything was taken care of. The only part that sucked was their insurance gave us a check for the damages, so we had to put it in our checking, and then pay the shop. I know it all even out, but anytime I write a check for that amount, I still feel like I'm bending over and getting a new one lol

x2 Joe,, we have allstate here, few years back the wifes car got rear ended, they took care of everything. had a check within a few weeks.
I have geico and they were great when I got hit, you can also claim thru your insurance and have your insurance go after his. That is the best route, I just call my insurance and say they are being mean, and telling me what they can't do, I feel uncomfortable with teh other company.your insurance will jump right in and take over. Don't let them fool you, they are not on your side, and they all work together everyday of the week. Take it to a shop, rip it apart and have a adjuster some out...good luck.
I think all has been resolved. The car is going to be fixed right. Bad news is the check is going to take 3 weeks to get to me. Until I have the cash I will feel uneasy.
it was their fault they should pay. i agree with not using aftermarket bumpers. on trailblazers the OEM front bumper gets wavey from sunlight under the grille, the aftermarket ones are worse

aughh tell me about it. We had ours in the dealership 3 times because of it. I finially had to tell them how to do it and hand them the service bulletin. Their responce "well they are all like that", my responce, "but that doesn;t make it right"
