In 1995, the Monte Carlo name was resurrected for the coupe version of the front-wheel drive Lumina coupe/sedan, which had replaced the Celebrity ~5 years earlier. At that time (late 1980s/early 1990s), all of Monte Carlo's cousin nameplates (Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Buick Regal and Pontiac Grand Prix) continued on front-wheel drive cars, while the Monte Carlo name disappeared.
