Well i finally put the car up on stands last night and have almost all the pieces to put it together. i bought a shifter from Shiftworks to see if i can make it work in the Monte console. it's a nice a piece seams to be well made. got a new HD flexplate and TV cable and all for it also got the Holley kickdown bracket to make sure the cable is at the correct geometry.

Hope to start taking the old one out tonight.

If you can wait until the second weekend of June, I'll be glad to come down and do it! OR have it towed here, I'll knock it out after work one night.

well i finally got the SOB out of the car. i started taking it out monday night but found out i had to take the exhaust and the headers off the motor. so last night i finally got home at 8 and took the exhaust off and unbolted the headers from the heads to let them move out of the way so i couls lower the trans down. i think it would've been easier to pull the motor and trans instead of the trans..lol oh well it's out so now time to reassemble so i can get the Hoe in next to fix her.

new one will start going in friday night. started mocking up the new shifter and had the neighbor weld me up a new mounting plate now i need to drill and tap some holes to mount it. then modify my console and other stuff to get it in.

well it's been a hard battle, but the trans is in and all it bolted back up. the fun part then realy starts now. i need to get the new shifter to fir the monte console. i finaly got the shifter all done tonight, but gave up working on the car around 8:30 tonight. i'll put the guages and stuff back together tomorrow. then i need to get this goofy kick down cable adjusted. the guy sent me some cable that has all sorts of adjusting and i'll be contacting him for that.. any way here are some pics


here's the cross member i was finally going to put in, but it'sfor a TH350 so off to ebay pile it goes.

if anyone is looking for a very nice shifter to mod into there car. i would look at www.shiftworks.com

vey nicely made shifter i had no complaints and they made it very easy to modify. i did have a few obstaces to get around to make it work, but it turned out pretty freaking sweet.

looks awesome Jim.. is that shifter indicator a solid white or like a frosted plexiglass? if it's the latter, it would look cool to put some led's behing it to light it up
