PS is leaking!!! Sell it back to the guy you bought it from, immediately!!!!
Ask for a full refund. I'm pretty he'll agree.

The 305 has been dismantled, had a broken spring retainer and probably caused a valve guide to go bad. Thats where the smoke was coming from. Other than that, motor was really clean for 100K+. Very little sludge, cam and lifters are all looking good!

small update... after some carb issues we figured I needed a lower power valve, dropped that in and fired it up. Had some misfires which turned out to be some bad plugs.

She is finally running and driving!!!!! May have to swap out the power valve again to a higher setting, but all is well in Monte land!!!

Oil pan leak ended up being a bad oil pan. Was bought brand new from Summit and seems to be made wrong. It had some imperfections in the flange that left a gap that the gasket couldnt seal. Installed new pan and gasket... dry as a bone!

Power steering pump should be swapped today or tomorrow and car is finished!!!! Well, finished for now

well, its been a long, rough ride, BUT SHE'S HOME!!!!!!!!

Already planning on what to do next.....

2" spindles
2" rear coils
install the poly bushings I got from Rich
rear wheels (going 15x8)
rear tires (255-60-15)
repaint all the black portions of the car (grille, headlights, bumper trim, front air dam)
pull taillights and clean over spray and repaint the black portions

all going to happen by spring.

then its on to the interior!!!
