Tire rub
Permalink Closed

Put the new tires on this weekend and I am getting a little bit of tire rub on the rear half of the frame.

I think I am going to heat it with a torch and hammer it in.

I have stock lugs so not enough room for a spacer, plus then it would hit the fenderwell

Need less than a 1/4 inch

Any other options that wont cost an arm & a leg?

Put a set of autolift1000 air bags in the rear, the spacer that protects the bag from lower coil over mount alone will add about 3/8" height to the rear then you also have bags for susp. improvement, you can always add a few lbs of air to bring it up a bit if needed.

I had to do this when I had the stock 7.5 rear set up and running a 15x11.5 Et Streets, or it would hit the outer wheelwell lip
and the frame where you are talking about, this fix my problem! But it did raise the rear of the car a little more.

What backspacing are the rims?

4 inch custom made steel wheel

I really dont want the rear raised anymore than it is.

The car already has a rake to it that annoys me a liitle.

definitely no room for a small spacer? say 3/16"?

I ran 275/60/15 on a 15x8 with 4" bs and no rub issue, but the DR's may be a bit wider in the sidewall area.

That looks pretty good John. Now I can see why you didn't want to raise the back up any.

Going to put the trim rings back on?
