Ive wanted to do it for some time, if you are going full computer and injected, you need a whole lot more than just the motor. If you are going carbureted, its easier.

Just some quick needs if going full electronic

Motor
Engine Harness
Drive by wire throttle body with new accelerator pedal
LS accessory drive
retrofit oil pan
retrofit headers
retrofit engine mounts
fuel tank with high pressure pump
fuel lines with return
adapter plate for tranny (unless you go with a new tranny, then tranny, tranny mounts, crossmember, driveshaft, harness
Computer with tune
O2 sensors

thats just off the top of my head.

its really not hard to do. just real time consuming. the key is get a fbody motor not a vette. then you do not have to change the oil pan.

I was on Montecarloss site and all the things they were saying was starting to confuse the hell out of me but a company BRP Hotrod has everything to do the swap.

ok first off.. listen to me. i've done the swap. in a monte.. i'm tossing the idea in the air of doing it again (buying tom r's stuff.. ) or doing it in a nova. anyway.. fbody LS1 is the way to go. you do not HAVE to notch the cross member.. BUT you'll have litteraly 1/2" clearance between the heads and firewall. now we did it with a T56 and i do not know if a auto will sit any further up or back. if i did it again i WOULD notch the cross member like ron (with the red 85) did. again you do not HAVE TO but i would. one thing i HIGHLY recomend is getting all the pullies and acessories from PST. expensive but worth every damn cent. if you are doing a 6 speed just the the pedal kit.. no matter what anyone says.. EVERYTHING IS STILL THERE FOR THE CLUTCH IN THE GBODY. again, its not a hard swap. just very very very time consuming and it takes some fabrricating.

again i'm thinking about it.. being serious too.. but i think i'm going the route of the 6.0 truck motor. the reason being is that i'll boost it to high hell. however, if romanski sells me his LS1/T56 stuff cheap. i'll go that route. if i go 6.0 it'll be backed with a 4L80.. or a TH400.

the retrofit oil pan is around $150, so its not expensive but I do believe the front plate comes off the motor and requires new gaskets and crap.

If I did it, I was going with the LQ motor, was close to buying a wrecked Escalade not too long ago.

you can still find them. thats the great thing with the LQ9.. so many out there.

scott thats the one i was talking about. i always thought it was a 6.0 out of the escalades. if it was right now id never even look at an LS1. you can not go wrong with the truck motors.

newer escalade, they have the 6.2L. This was a rolled truck with low miles, already gutted interior and any good exterior parts. Was basically a drivetrain in a wrecked shell
