My 85 has developed a steering leak at the pitman shaft seal, bad enough now it empties the reservoir inside of 2 miles. Replacing the seals seems pretty easy, if I can find the parts, but I lack a few things. A socket large enough to remove pitman shaft and I'm guessing by hand no impact it will be nearly impossible, a puller to remove the arm itself and a snap ring plier for the seal retainer.
Seems it can be done in car and I'd like too, I can't pay some shop a million dollars to do this but I need my car, it is just undriveable.....again. Rag in gas tank and a match anyone?
Let me know if anyone has the stuff to do this? I would appreciate it. Thanks!
Thanks, wish you were closer, no way I can get the car that far. I went through 3 pint bottles just going the 6 miles from work to home and it was empty again when I parked! I very much appreciate the offer though.
