tires for my 06 ss

a guy from here suggested General G-MAX AS-03 which had sent me a nice post from motor trend http://www.motortrend.com/features/consumer/1103_general_g_max_tire_test/..

my dad likes firestone and local owned garage around corner from me http://www.hiramstire.net/shop-for-tires.aspx?view=SR&width=235&aspect=50&rim=18&brand=-1 has 2 firestone tires.. the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 and the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval AS.. we talked on phone to them and i dont recall which of the firestones we discussed but it would be like 140 something per tire compared to the i think 178 i got quated from same place in a email for the General G-Max.... so i would be saving myself 30ish or 120 ish all together by getting firestones .. which is nice but same time my concern is, is spending "too cheap" on tires good idea.. goodyear prices over price their tires to much.. and from the article on motor trend seems the General G-Max nice tire.. but my dad recommends firestone and those are what he got when he had his 68 vette he went right away and took off his goodyears for firestone.. and if i do firestone i will save in total 120ish dollars compared to the General G-Max.. What is to cheap of a price for u guys for 18" tires.. i gotta choose asap to make sure they can get them in time for watkins gleen.

I have always had Firestones until I got a great deal on the BFG's that are on my 86 now. Never had an issue with them. The 01 has a set Firehawk GT-S for the winter. Love them! As long as there not flat spotted from sitting.

Never had Generals so I can't comment on them

Monte came with the GoodYears, will be gone as soon as I decide on wheels. The 300 runs crazy sizes and BFG didnt make them for the stagger I have. I can get the rear tires, I can get the front tires, but I cant get both in the same model.

well i had local tire guys in liverpool order me http://www.firestonetire.com/tires/firehawk/firehawk-wide-oval.html for like 189 each...

paid for those but noticed when got home they ordered http://www.firestonetire.com/tires/firehawk/firehawk-wide-oval-indy-500-2010.html
which would cost me 179 each tread different as u can see and these are all season as i was told while the normal wide ovals are more summer which i would rather have since dont drive much in winter.. only car i got but dont drive much in winter and when do wash it alot...

but to save the guy face from his boss im gonna just keep the indy 500 version and hes gonna hand me the cash he owes out of his pocket... so somehow on bill was correct but the tire that was ordered was wrong.. both are wide ovals just one says wide oval other says wide oval indy 500.. im hoping either tire would handle pretty close same? being only 10 dollars difference...tires seemed good taking high speeds and taking curves on the local highway near syracuse.. i guess ill find out better sunday.. just gotta have my inspection finished cause car died like month ago and needed really good jump to get her started and only drove it just couple times since and their computer has to wait for my car computer to reboot after enough driving and starting..
