Monte undergoing a major change this summer. She's getting a new engine!!!!! 

 

ZZ430 from Pace Performance

430hp, 430tq

GM roller hotcam .525 lift

1.6 roller rockers

Fastburn heads

Forged crank

Flat top pistons

9.6:1

Complete turn key motor.

 

Ordeing tomorrow, about 2 weeks to build, dyno, ship

Thanks guys. Engine shopping was hard. Start low and ''hey, just $300 more gets me this'' then ''oh, $200 more gives me that'' by the time I found what I wanted I was closing in on $10k. So scrapped those plans and called in the experts.... Tommy, Jay & Cisco. Settled on the ZZ430, its just north of the specs I was looking for which MAY keep the mod bug satisfied for a while

well..... off the phone with Pace, Im not buying from them. Their catalog says each motor is dyno tested, they want $650 to do it.

So, looks like Im going with the Fastburn 385 from Summit or Jegs and maybe the Hot cam in the future.

converter is ordered, ProTorque is a great company to deal with. Very nice on the phone, they answered all my questions and are custom building me a converter. Should be picking it up next week.

Just an update, car went under the knife on 5/23. I havent been there since, but from the calls I have been getting, its getting close. Ran into an issue with the new headers, may be ordering the same ones I have now and sending them off to NitroPlate. The Hooker ones arent even close.

The Jegs brand headers that they list with the crossmember fit incredibly well PN 555-30060. They come painted for around $110. Im going to order a set and send off to NitroPlate. The shop will reinstall my rusted Jegs headers because the turn-around time is about 2-3 weeks and Im not waiting that long for my car to come back.

Thats all I got. Should have it back next week. Guy doing the work had a death in the family and will be gone till Monday. But she starts and runs, needs a bit of tuning and clean up wires etc.

I just pulled in the driveway with it

still have some things to do, needs new headers. The ones I have now hit EVERYTHING, so Im ordering a set of cheapy JEGS headers (which fit the best) and have them NitroPlated, plus it needs a new exhaust system.

Not a lot to show Frank, looks the same as it did before except for the serp setup. She runs great, limited driving with her right now till I can get the headers and exhaust done. We got into our late summer busy season in the shop and just dont have to time. Things should slow down again next week until mid Sept. I have sourced all my parts for the AC. Just have to stop by Jenn's work to order the condenser and lines.
